Categorization of Incoterms


Term
Term in E: EXW
The provider makes the goods available to the customer in the supplier's own premises; It is defined as direct delivery to the output.
Term
Term en F: FCA, FAS and FOB
The supplier will be responsible for supplying goods to a means of transport and paid for by the customer; It is defined as indirect delivery without payment of principal transportation provider.
Term
Term in C: CFR, CIF, CPT and CIP
The transport provider hires, but bears no risk of loss or damage to the goods or additional costs for the events after loading and dispatch; It is defined as indirect delivery.
Term
Term in D: DAT, DAP and DDP
The supplier bears the costs and risks needed to bring the goods to the destination country; It is defined as direct delivery upon arrival. The costs and risks are taken at the point of origin, as in the terms E and F terms

Group E - Direct delivery to the output


Incoterm
Ex Works named place "In factory (named place)"
The provider makes the goods available to the customer at their own facilities.

Group F - Indirect delivery without payment of principal transport


Incoterm
Free Alongside Ship named loading port "Free Alongside Ship (port of shipment)"
The supplier delivers the goods on the quay of the agreed port of shipment. The FAS incoterm is typical of bulk goods or bulky cargo deposited in specialized ports.

Free On Board named loading port "Free On Board (port of shipment)"
The vendor delivers the goods on the vessel. The customer is responsible for designating and reserve the main transport (ship).

Free Carrier named place "Free Carrier (named place)"
The supplier undertakes to deliver the goods at a point agreed upon in the country. This incoterm can be used with any kind of transportation: air, rail, road and containerized/multimodal transport carriage.

Group C - Indirect delivery, with payment of principal transport

Cost and Freight named destination port "Cost and Freight (named port of destination)"
The supplier is responsible for all costs, including freight to get the goods to the port of destination. The customer's responsibility for the goods entering the time of loading on the vessel at the point of origin.

Cost, Insurance and Freight named destination port "cost, insurance and freight (named port of destination)"
The supplier is responsible for all costs, including the main tranport and insurance until the goods arrive at the port of destination. The insurance provider contracts may be authorized by the customer.

Carriage Paid To named place of destination "carriage paid to (named place of destination)"
The supplier is responsible for all costs, including freight to get the goods to the agreed point in the country.

Carriage and Insurance Paid (To)named place of destination "transport and insurance paid to (named place of destination)"
The supplier is responsible for all costs, including the main transport and insurance until the goods arrive at the agreed point in the country.

Group D - Direct delivery arrival

Delivered At Terminal named port "delivered in terminal (port of destination)"
It is used for all types of transport. The supplier is responsible for all costs, including the main (not required) transportation and insurance until the goods are unloaded at the agreed terminal, which assumes the risks so far.

Delivered At Place named destination place "delivered at one point (place of destination)"
It is used for all types of transport. The supplier is responsible for all costs, including the main transport and insurance (not mandatory) but not the costs associated with the importation, until the goods available to the customer in a vehicle ready to be discharged, where also it assumes the risks so far.
Incoterm
Delivered Duty Paid named destination place "delivered duty paid (named place of destination)"
The supplier pays all costs to bring the goods to the agreed point in the country. The client does not perform any process. The import customs charges are borne by the supplier.
